TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
Logistic Distribution
BIS.Net Team
The logistic distribution is a continuous probability distribution resembling a Normal Distribution, but with heavier tails. It obtains its name from its cumulative distribution function which is the logistic function appearing in logistic regression.
The probability density function is:
Where mu is the mean and s a scale factor proportional to the standard deviation.
The Logistic distribution is used in a wide range of applications where distributions are similar to the Normal distribution. One popular application is in hydrology to study the distribution of river discharge and rainfall.
The BIS.Net Process Performance APP uses sophisticated machine powered algorithms to obtain the parameters for the logistics distribution such that the Anderson Darling statistic is minimized.
